Atheist vs. Theist
How do I beat an atheist in argument.
Submitted by TRUECRISTIAN on November 10, 2011 - 2:10am.Recently I have been having several arguments with atheists on the internet. When I have an argument with an atheist in real life, I usually just talk louder than them and tell them that they are going to hell. But there is no way to yell louder on the internet, and there certainly isn’t a function to make my typing louder.
On the internet they have all of these “theories” which I am pretty sure are from Satan. Either that or these deluded atheists just make them up. Some of them think we actually “evolved” from rocks. How stupid does that sound? They say that the earth revolves around the sun and that there isn’t a giant dome covering the earth. How do you argue with that?
I tried telling them there is amazing evidence for design in the universe. Take the eye for example. Even Darwin said that they eye couldn’t have evolved. I just don’t think that these wicked atheists will ever accept the biblical truth. Good thing they will all burn in hell with their satanic naturalism.
IT'S ENOUGH ALREADY WITH THESE ILLITERATE ATHEISTS POSTINGS!!!!!!! 've never encountered as much stupidity, illiterate, ignorant
Submitted by TRUECRISTIAN on November 4, 2011 - 5:56pm.I and uneducated people posting on THIS FORUM Hasn't anyone gone to school? What is the educational level of these people? Is this an example of how inadequate our educational system is?? The ignorance and sheer stupidity of people who post here is amazing.THIS FORUMS should shut down the entire page until things settle down. The roaches are crawling roaches are crawling out of the woodwork, the idiots are blogging, and this whole page has gone out of control. I've seen racism and anti-Semitism on these posts, I've read of suicides of f, and just about everything you can imagine. One must ask themselves: what, as a society are we coming to when people can't think, spell, and even express their thoughts in a correct grammatical manner. I think the Federal Government needs to look at these postings and see how much sheer stupidity is rampant on these pages. Someone may reply, "Then what are YOU doing here?". I'm here because I am curious, but now I've become shocked and alarmed at the mental deficiencies of these posters. If this is what America has produced with respect to education, then we as a nation are going to become extinct

Should Christianity Be Age Restricted?
Submitted by Marty Hamrick on November 2, 2011 - 12:17pm.If my personal experiences count for anything, I would say that there are practices and doctrines in many Christian churches that are harmful in that they can exacerbate existing mental illnesses and traumatize children who are exposed to it. I know being exposed to behavior such as what is seen in this video was traumatizing to me as a nine year old boy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6ck5...eature=related
Why is the Bible Silent about Pedophiles?
Submitted by Marty Hamrick on November 2, 2011 - 12:13pm.You would think with all the sexual hangups and bugaboos about sex that the Christian community gets upset over, that pedophilia would have a whole chapter in the Bible dedicated to it. If you hate homosexuality, you can find plenty of scriptures to support your view. Premarital sex, adultery and homosexuality get a few pages, along with prescriptions on when and where sex could and could not take place. Yet the Bible is deafeningly silent on the subject of pedophilia. I suppose the mandate against all homosexuality could be applied here in the case of homophile child molestation, and the mandates against premarital sex could cover heterosexual pedophilia, but what about places where the age of consent is around 12? If a 50 year old pedophile can find a legal way to marry his 12 year old bride, is this hunky dorey with god?
If you look at the Bible and read about the people the Bible speaks of, marrying children and giving children to be married off was common. The average age of a bride probably was around 12 to 14 back in biblical times, so it would stand to reason pedophilia wouldn't be mentioned as it would disqualify most of the marriage pool. That said, does god have an age of consent in mind for marriage? Are the Mormons really sinning when they take plural, young wives if such practices were common among ancient, religious people, many of whom were God's favoured people?
Religion in the Workplace
Submitted by Marty Hamrick on November 2, 2011 - 12:10pm.I worked for one TV station back in the 80's and 90's that ordered it's workers to "leave their religion and politics at the door". At the time, political correctness was coming into vogue and everyone from gays and lesbians to Born Again Christians was feeling persecuted and paranoid. Yet, religion is one of those things that can't really be "left at the door" because most religious scriptures teach that it is to permeat every aspect of your life and being ( "be filled with spirit" ). Can this be done without offending those of other or no faith? Can a workplace maintain an environment fair to all without infringing upon the rights of religious free expression?
Scientific Advancement vs. Encroaching on God
Submitted by Marty Hamrick on November 2, 2011 - 12:08pm.Often when I post of certain breakthroughs in science, some theist will warn of the dangers of "playing god". When I posted of Dr. Persinger's succes with the "God Helmet", many theists were quick to tell me that Dr. Persinger wasn't really re creating religious and mystical experiences because a "real" RE would "transcend" what Persinger was creating in his lab. Persinger believes that all RE's are produced WITHIN the brain and nothing external. He believes this because this is what his finding show, no evidence of anything external. Theists seem to get agitated by things like this as it is looked upon as an attempt to "debunk" or least challenge their faith.
But what if medical "miracles" such as those claimed at places like Lourdes, France were linked to a recessant gene found in some people? What if this explained the extremely small number of so called "bonifide miracles"? What if the action could be duplicated and successful treatments for things like cancer or Parkinson's Disease were found this way? I'm sure theists would be divided into two camps, those that saw it as God sharing his widom with science and pouring his miracles out to more people and there would be those who would see it as an encroachment upon God's wisdom, that God "knew what he was doing" with the small number of "miracles" and science was messing around where it shouldn't. Which camp would you be in and why?
Could Transhumanism Render Religion Obsolete?
Submitted by Marty Hamrick on November 2, 2011 - 12:05pm.Transhumanism(H+) has been called by it's critics, a "secular religious viewpoint", which to me sounds oxymoronic. One poster on another forum called some of the propsed futuristic ideas a "Rapture fantasy for atheists". Here is a Wiki article on H+.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhumanism
Some of the things I've heard propsed are: increasing human lifespan to hundreds of years, increasing human brain capacity, increasing IQ's by as much several hundred percent. Downloading human consciousness into quantum computers until a suitable replacement body can be utilised.
How does the contemplation of these ideas work with religion? Could religion survive if some of the dreams of transhumanists became reality? What if death could scientifically be rendered obsolete? What purpose, then would religion serve?
Why Do Matters of Sexuality Upset the Christian Community So Much?
Submitted by Marty Hamrick on November 2, 2011 - 11:57am.When I posted this in original form on another site, many Christians wanted to be the first to jump up and show how "progressive and not prudish they were." Still didn't answer my question. In all fairness though, you have to understand where I came from, the Bible Belt, the Deep South where there's a church on just about every corner and local governments are deeply entrenched into fundamentalism.
Down in the Bible Belt, Fundamentalist Christians are very vocal and politically very active and since I grew up down there and worked in media, I think I know pretty well what gets Christians, particularly the Bible believing fundamentalist type.
Sexual matters in general seem to send them into fits. If a group of fundamentalists are going to protest or picket something, it's either homosexuality, topless and nudie bars, adult book and video stores and sex education in school. I've also seen them at movie theaters protesting sexual content or another theme that they find offensive. I've never seen them protest unfair conditions for workers, never seen them lift a finger toward an environmental cause and the ones I know seem to really love war, some of the more political type even call for it (dominionists). I just came from covering a protest in downtown Toronto, the "occupy" movement, where folks are protesting the disparity and inequality, that they feel is caused by corporate greed, another issue I've seldom, if ever heard a Bible believer complain about.
So, you doubt the exsistance of God!
Submitted by fjp800 on October 31, 2011 - 3:15pm.So, you doubt the existence of God! I came up with PROOF that God exists! All I need is some help in a form of a petition! We can petition the Pope ("The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, he is Jesus Christ himself, hidden under the veil of flesh." Catholic National, July 1895 -Holy shit.. Pardon the pun) to perform a small miracle which the whole world can watch on TV. Something small will do… Maybe some form of levitation [An inch will do] or covered by a brilliant aura while deep in prayer or cure a blind person – a really blind person! or have an orthodox Jew’s beard fall off or change white wine into red wine or make a pig fly or something else.. [I am open to suggestions] It is beyond me why this was not done centuries ago OR at least since the invention of television! Let’s get this petition started!!!
