Atheist vs. Theist

Constitutional Amendment to prohibit gay marraige

On Wednesday, March 1st, 2006, in Annapolis at a hearing on the proposed Constitutional Amendment to prohibit gay marriage, Jamie Raskin, professor of law at AU, was requested to testify.

At the end of his testimony, Republican Senator Nancy Jacobs said: "Mr. Raskin, my Bible says marriage is only between a man and a woman. What do you have to say about that?"

Raskin replied: "Senator, when you took your oath of office, you placed your hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. You did not place your hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible."

Do you believe in life after death??

Humans just happen to have an intellect many times that of any other animal. We also have a frontal lobe, something no other animal has, It's what makes us different from animals. We "think and stuff" because we are INTELLIGENT. Animals do not have the capacity for self-conciousness like we do. That "we must have a purpose of existence" way of thinking has been around since man learned to write. It's what makes us think there is a god. Humans NEED answers, and when they can't find a logical answer for an unanswerable question, they make shit up. So yeah, I don't believe in life after death because we are just a small part of mother nature.

Founder of a Christian Army is a gigantic WUSSY! LOL

I found "The Christian Army" a group claiming to "Defend Christanity in where-ever it is needed." The problem is that I came into the group, after I saw that they were trying to confront me specifically at Hardcore Christians, and when I did, they deleted my posts. So, is the founder of this group really interested in defending Christianity? It seems to me he's a chest thumping weak warrior, unwilling to go to battle with someone who might not give in to his irrational logic.

The Fools and the Atheists

Here you go, Atheist means "does not believe in God."
Agnostic means "doesn't know there is a God or not."
Theist means, "believes in God."
The definition of fool is "believes something that he/she doesn't know for a fact is true."
The definition of stupid is "foolish or idiotic person."

So unless a theist has evidence of a God, a theist is stupid for being a theist, by definition.

A theist without proof of a God has to agree he is agnostic.
But once you are both theist and agnostic, that means you "believe" something that "you don't know is true." You are thereby a fool, and thereby stupid.

Proof of God?

Proof of God

The following is supposedly an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term.

The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well.

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gascools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

Bill Maher on Religion

Bill Maher on Religion

You know what's hostile. When so many people preface everything they say, as so many do now-a-days, with "Well I'm a Christian". As if they have the moral high ground. "Please, I'm a Christian so I have the moral high ground here!" They think that's what I'm hearing. They think I'm hearing "I'm a better person", but really what I'm hearing is "You have a neurological disorder." Same is with "Jesus is always with me" Okay, I'm hearing that's called an imaginary friend. Which is okay when you're a child. When your child its okay to believe in myths and fairytales to settle unsettling questions in your mind, but when you get older you have to kind of look at it again. Yes, it's not your fault, I'm not being hostile I'm just trying to find a way to understand how otherwise bright people can believe in stuff that is nonsensical and spiritually unnecessary.

The Root of All Evil?
Episode 1: The God Delusion

Richard Dawkins is astounded that religious faith is gaining ground in the face of rational, scientific truth based on hard evidence. Julia Bard reports

In this two-part Channel 4 series, Professor Richard Dawkins challenges what he describes as 'a process of non-thinking called faith'. Dawkins is well known for bringing to a wide audience the complex scientific concepts that underpin evolution. His first book, The Selfish Gene was an international bestseller.

Backasswards Christians- Gods fault, demons fault.

Yesterday I posted a cover story about a woman in Texas who severed her babies arms because she believed she was supposed to "give the baby to God." She's pleaded not guilty by insanity, however the prosecution states, they haven't found her "to be dangerously insane during her treatment." Dr. Zaki who analyzed her, "characterized Dena Schlosser as ?delusional and hyperreligious.? He said she told him in May she was staying up nights and reading the Bible, which scared her"
